I have heard people comment about the goodness of God. I will say, he is good, no matter what is going on. Yes, some things can cause one to question “why.” When things of a nature described as “not so good” happen, we might wonder.

On many occasions, I myself have thought, “Why is this the way it is? Or what is this about?” Thinking like this results from what we’ve been taught about what’s good and what’s bad. Jesus, though, has a view that sees something positive in whichever case.

Romans 8:28 reads, “We know in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose.” (TEV)

Because Jesus cares about everything that concerns us, I will mention something that occurred at the beauty salon.

Normally, one hair stylist does my waxing for me. The last time I made an appointment, I had to make an appointment with someone else. When I thought about going to another stylist, I felt reluctant. However, I later discovered the new person was not new. She had worked on me before. It was a happy surprise. What had happened, though, was that the whole situation made me question whether I really needed my eyebrows done that time. So, I just had them clipped a bit and could then let them grow in fuller than they were. I had been thinking the brows were too thin, so the above situation ended well

Other things that seem problematic are some afflictions that I have. I know when something bothers us, we don’t want it. But, with me, the issues of concern can help others if I speak of them. Things that cause difficulty can turn into something to be thankful for. I am always able to turn to the Bible and find a perspective that helps bring relief. Then, in turn, I write about it, and others can find comfort.

It might be different, thinking that all is well when incidents affect our ability to smile. However, the Lord knows everything and how each event or occurrence can produce goodness. For us, at a time such as this, faith is necessary.

Thank you for reading.

I love you,

Lisa Brown
