When I am gearing up to do something, achieve something, or accomplish something, I’m sometimes thwarted before I even start. I don’t always know what to do when this happens.
Often the thoughts floating around are negative, and they put me in a position where I procrastinate. Frankly, I don’t have time to put things off. I have a full schedule and need every minute of the day to work, and to rest and meditate to charge up my perspective.
So, I turned to the Bible to help me take control. I found the verse 2 Corinthians 10:5. It reads, “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” ESV
When a concern pops up, I either look it up in the back of my Bible in the Concordance section, or I Google a verse appropriate to the issue I am beginning to worry about.
Then I recite the verse aloud, pray it in Jesus’ name, and then thank and praise him. Just hearing myself say the words helps. Sometimes I get caught off guard and confusion arises. Like when I think about a business housekeeping task that is on the horizon. I know there is nothing to fret about. It is a simple 5-minute job.
The Bible doesn’t mention the evil one much, but I know he doesn’t want me to do my job. It is a battle that I must stay ready for no matter what I am doing. I do know that he doesn’t like it when I read and speak Bible verses.
When I am going out for the day, I pray before I leave. And if an issue presents itself, I just say the verse “I have the strength to face all conditions through the power that Christ gives me.” Philippians 4:13. GNT
I don’t care if it is the traffic situation, or if it’s whether or not I will get in and out of a store on time, I will pray the above prayer. And no matter what it is on my mind, the Lord answers my prayers. And there are times when he gives me a lot better choice than I have made for myself.
Thank you for reading.
I love you,
