I read novels and short stories online. Often, though, I read hardcover books.
Something happened last night when I was reading a novel written by one of my favorite authors. I was let down and feeling put off. As I turned the pages, it seemed like every other word was difficult to understand. I did not know any of these questionable words at all.
When I kept reading and thinking, “Oh, she just threw in a few of those words,” I found out I was wrong. She kept adding in those words, page after page.
What are authors like this trying to do? Put us down for having a limited vocabulary? Are they trying to teach us new words? I don’t know. But, when I can’t figure out what an author means, I don’t want to keep reading.
So, I shut the book. I will not read her books any longer.
John 14:27 reads, “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” The Good News Translation Bible (GNT).
Thank you for reading.
I love you,
Lisa Brown
